The CAeDS® trademark name refers to a combination of ingredients (enzymes, minerals and other nutrients), which ensure that each of our products are bioavailable, absorbed and transported to the cells of the body. CAeDS® provides the necessary minerals and co-factors to ensure optimum enzyme activity without robbing vital nutrients from the body. The enzymes in CAeDS® are precisely coordinated with the nutrients in each supplement to achieve optimum delivery of the nutrients. The patented Albion chelated minerals are used to fully activate the enzymes, thereby producing the unique system of nutrient delivery. - Why is a nutrient delivery system necessary? Simply ingesting supplements does not guarantee that the nutrients will be absorbed or delivered to the cells of the body. The body's natural processes require coordinated enzymes and minerals to be present in order for nutrients to be delivered to the cells of the body. Without a delivery system that includes all of the cofactors, supplements may "leach" minerals from the body's stores and enzymes will work less efficiently. A nutrient delivery system ensures that the nutrients in foods and supplements are fully digested and absorbed making them available to the cells of the body without robbing the body's nutrient stores.
- What is an enzyme? Enzymes are energized protein molecules, which have been termed the "life force" of body chemistry. They regulate every biochemical reaction within the human body, including energy production, metabolism, respiration, nerve function, reproduction, immunity and digestion. Simply put, without enzymes, life would not exist. Individuals who are enzyme deficient are more subject to disease and degeneration.
- Are all enzymes the same? No. There are thousands of different enzymes that regulate bodily functions. Enzymes have been grouped into three categories: metabolic enzymes, digestive enzymes and food enzymes. Metabolic enzymes work within the cells to regulate such activities as detoxification and energy production. Digestive enzymes break foods down and make them available for use in the body. Food enzymes are those that are naturally present in raw foods and which perform the first stage in the breakdown of that food.
- Are all enzyme supplements the same? No. Only our supplier produces enzymes specifically for use with foods. Other enzyme supplements on the market may utilize enzymes, which are intended for making cheese, removing stains, or some other industrial or processing use. Not only do we use the highest quality enzymes available, Infinity2 has carefully studied each enzyme to discover what it needs to be fully active and then has included those co-factors to ensure maximum enzyme activity in these exclusive formulations.
- Which products are recommended for children? Infinity2 makes an excellent product for children, called Children’s Complete. This product provides all the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes and probiotics that children need for healthy growth. For information about whether or not other specific products are appropriate for children, refer to the “special considerations” section of each individual product fact sheet.
- Can I use the Infinity2 products if I am taking medications? Some nutrients and herbs can interact with medications. To help you and your healthcare provider determine whether you can use the Infinity2 products, each Infinity2 product fact sheet includes a section that lists any known potential drug-nutrient interactions for that particular product. Refer to this section of the product fact sheet for the products you are interested in using and discuss with your healthcare provider.
- How do I know if I need enzymes? If you eat foods that are cooked or processed, you need enzymes. Modern food processing destroys nearly all of the naturally-occurring enzymes in food. With the prevalence of cooked and processed foods, the average American diet is essentially devoid of food enzymes. We recommend that you eat as many raw foods as possible, but even then, the raw foods contain only enough enzymes to digest that food. We know that most modern foods, particularly meat, are cooked and processed. Nutritional enzyme supplements are an effective way to assist the digestive process and relieve the stress placed on your body.
- Does stomach acid destroy Infinity2 enzymes? There is no research or evidence that indicates Infinity2 enzymes are destroyed by stomach acid. To the contrary, our enzymes are designed to work well in the environment of the stomach.
- Why does Infinity2 use plant-based enzymes instead of pancreatic or animal enzymes? Plant-based enzymes are more effective than animal or pancreatic enzymes because they remain active throughout the entire digestive process and they do not interfere with the natural functioning of the body. Thus, they have no side effects. How are plant-based enzymes made and how are they grown? The production of plant-based enzymes consists of making a cell culture fermentation using organic whole grain rice as a nutrient base. The fermentation process produces a rich broth containing enzymes. This broth is filtered five to six times. The result is a very pure protein solution that is rich in enzymes. This solution is then freeze dried to produce a stable, concentrated enzyme powder.
- What are flora or probiotics? Flora or probiotics are the beneficial bacteria of the digestive tract. Human health depends on the presence of some bacteria, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, in the digestive tract and other mucosal membranes. There are at least 400 kinds of microorganisms (bacteria) found in the digestive tract. This amounts to about three pounds of bacteria in the healthy human intestine. These bacteria are essential in the functioning of the intestinal tract and the immune system.
- Why do I need to supplement with flora? Maintaining and promoting the growth of helpful bacteria, while destroying the harmful strains, is vital to health. Friendly bacteria (flora) can be destroyed by common factors such as carbonated beverages, medications, caffeine, alcohol, antibiotics and stress. Regular inclusion of supplemental flora ensures that healthy growth of needed bacteria is maintained.
- What are minerals and why are they important? Minerals are natural elements which are not of animal or vegetable origin. They are essential to the functioning of the body's systems, particularly the hormone system and the immune system. Minerals also play a vital role in enzyme reactions and in the production of blood, vitamins and energy.
- What are "chelated minerals?" The term chelation, which comes from the Greek word "claw," refers to the process of binding a mineral to another substance. When minerals such as zinc, magnesium, iron and others become surrounded by and bonded to amino acids, in a stable form, this is referred to as chelation. Chelation is a natural means for the body to transport minerals across the intestinal wall as part of digestion. Infinity2 uses only amino-acid chelated minerals from the only company which holds a patent on that process, Albion Laboratories. Other mineral supplements on the market claim to include chelated minerals but often use admixtures and not true amino-acid chelates.
- What is a colloidal mineral? And how does it compare to chelated minerals? Colloidal minerals are very small insoluble particles of shale (clay-like substances) suspended in an acid solution. There is no research which supports that it can be used by the body. Albion amino acid chelated minerals have been proven by research to be well utilized by the body - right down to the cellular level.
- What are natural or whole-food vitamins? The most bioavailable vitamins are natural or whole food vitamins. Natural or whole food vitamins refer to vitamins as found in natural foods, unaltered in any way that might change their molecular, biological or biochemical combinations, or their action. Whole food vitamins are foods with only the water and fiber removed. These vitamins are natural and familiar to the body with all of the natural cofactors present.
- What is a free radical? A free radical is an extremely active molecule, such as super oxide hydroxide or peroxide, that will cause rapid oxidation of tissues and especially fats. This results in excess rancidity, tissue damage and premature aging if not controlled. Free radicals are known to cause over 60 major diseases because they damage the cell lining, making it easier for disease to set in. While free radicals are necessary in the body, especially to the immune system, it is extremely important that they be controlled by antioxidants.
- What is an antioxidant? An antioxidant is a specific vitamin, enzyme or accessory food factor that has the ability to scavenge free radicals and render them harmless to the body. The body has the ability to make antioxidants if given the right nutrition, especially antioxidant enzymes which are sometimes very hard to get from food.
- Will I feel better right away when I take Infinity2 products? Our products contain only whole food ingredients without any synthetic vitamins or stimulants. You may not notice a dramatic difference immediately, but rather, you may experience a steady increase in health and well-being. As your health improves, your body may actually get rid of toxins and, as a result, you may feel worse for a short time. Most individuals find that this "detox" reaction is temporary (two or three days) and improves with continued use of the products along with improved diet and lifestyle. Adequate water intake and a good diet are especially important.
- Are the products from Infinity2 FDA approved? The FDA only grants approval on substances considered to be drugs. Therefore, the FDA approval process is not relevant to Infinity2's all-natural products. Nevertheless, every Infinity2 product is in full compliance with all applicable FDA regulations and all ingredients in Infinity2 products are in the GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) category.
- Does the FDA list our products as whole foods or vitamins? Our products are considered to be whole foods under FDA guidelines.
- Where does Infinity2 get its raw materials? The raw materials in our products are from the highest quality sources. Because the nutrient content of plants varies depending on growing season, Infinity2 selects its growers and suppliers to be sure that the ingredients contain the highest possible nutrient content. Even though we choose the most reliable sources for our ingredients, each raw ingredient is tested for safety, accuracy and quality to ensure that the ingredient is 100% of what the grower claims. Each raw ingredient is spectrographically analyzed using both thin-layer chromatography as well as HPLC "fingerprinting" of the nutrient's biological makeup. If they don't meet our extreme quality standards, the entire lot is rejected. Until a vendor can consistently demonstrate that they meet our strict standards for excellence, they cannot be considered a certified vendor and we will not use raw materials provided by that vendor. Back to Top Does Infinity2 employ an independent laboratory to ensure potency, purity, activity and consistency? Yes. It is a part of good manufacturing process (GMP) to perform quality checks and also to have in-house tests backed up by independent laboratory analysis. Each batch is tested several times on a frequency determined by the batch size.
- Are there any preservatives, pesticides, herbicides or other chemicals (such as propyl alcohol or benzene) used in or on any of the products? No. Infinity2 does not use any preservatives. Preservatives are known to interfere with enzyme activity. There are no pesticides, herbicides or other chemicals in or on the Infinity2 products. Neither propyl alcohol nor benzene are part of any good quality manufacturing process in the natural food industry, and neither is used in any step of Infinity2's product manufacturing process.
- What is Essentials for Life? In our research into needs for supplementation, the Infinity2 Formulation Team identified six categories of need for supplementation in today's human population. Infinity2's Essentials for Life program is the premier set of products formulated to meet these needs. It is made of up of two formulations that together provide the enzymes, probiotics, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients required for optimal health. Essentials for Life provides the nutrition factors missing from the standard American diet. It contains the full spectrum and full potency of the richest sources of naturally-occurring vitamins and phytonutrients, high levels of cutting-edge antioxidants, and a full complement of amino acid chelated minerals. It also provides intestinal health factors that are vital to the utilization of nutrients in the body by supplying the complete enzyme complexes required to break foods down into their most usable form and probiotics to ensure intestinal health.
- What are the six categories of need for supplementation in today's human population? Whole food vitamins - missing from food as the result of diets which are high in processed foods. Bioavailable minerals - low in foods because of commercial farming methods. Antioxidants - low in the standard American diet because of poor food choices. Enzymes - missing from food as a result of cooking and processing. Dietary sugar and fat tolerance factors - low in most diets because of the nature of commercial processing of foods. Probiotic organisms - depleted in the body by consumption of carbonated beverages, antibiotics and many other substances, as well as life-style factors such as stress.
- Why don't the labels give elemental or milligram values for the vitamin content of products like Essentials for Life and Insure Plus? The FDA regulations for supplement labels require that vitamins listed in the upper portion of the label only include amounts for the fractionated portion of the specific vitamin with an RDA (ascorbic acid for vitamin C or alpha-tocopherol for vitamin E). Whole food vitamins do not fit the model used by the FDA labeling system. The concept of milligrams and units of vitamins simply has no meaning when applied to whole foods. For example, Essentials for Life does not use ascorbic acid, but instead provides whole food sources of vitamin C, such as acerola cherry and orange peel. These ingredients provide ascorbic acid and all the other members of the natural C complex that function in the body, such as ascorbigen A, ascorbigen B, erthorbic acid, dehydroascorbate, the K factors, etc. Similarly, instead of supplying just alpha-tocopherol, Essentials for Life provides whole food sources of vitamin E so that you receive all of the components of the natural Vitamin E including alpha, beta, gamma, delta, and epsilon tocopherols and the whole series of tocotrienols. In summary, whole food vitamins do not fit the model used by the FDA labeling system and the technology does not exist for accurately assessing the true micronutrient value of whole food complexes. Nevertheless, it is known that the biological activity derived from whole food is much greater than that of synthetic or fractionated vitamins.
- What B vitamins are in Essentials for Life? The whole ingredients in Essentials for Life are specifically formulated to provide a balanced supply of thiamin (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), panthothenic acid (B5), pyrodoxine (B6), cyanocobalimin (B12), pangamate (B15), biotin, choline, folate, inositol and PABA. Even more important, the whole food ingredients also deliver the unclassified cofactors, which help these B vitamins work better.
- Does Essentials for Life provide enough calcium for the prevention or treatment of osteoporosis? Essentials for Life is not designed as a calcium or bone health product. Essentials for Life provides only baseline amounts of calcium. For the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, scientists and medical professionals recommend obtaining 1500 milligrams of calcium per day from food and supplements. In addition to calcium, optimal bone health requires other minerals including magnesium, zinc and copper, as well as adequate exercise and balanced hormonal status. In addition to taking Essentials for Life, individuals concerned about osteoporosis should eat foods high in calcium, exercise, avoid foods that deplete calcium (high salt, caffeine, animal protein, etc) and obtain extra minerals from Infinity2's Bone Formula.
- Does Essentials for Life provide enough nutrition during pregnancy? Essentials for Life provides excellent baseline nutrition and is safe to take during pregnancy. However, nutrition needs of specific nutrients are higher during pregnancy, particularly iron and folic acid. Essentials for Life does not provide adequate amounts of folic acid or iron to meet the increased needs during pregnancy. During pregnancy Infinity2 recommends taking the Infinity2 Prenatal (4 capsules daily) along with Essentials for Life (2 with each meal) to ensure that all your nutritional needs are met during pregnancy. Most of the Infinity2 products are safe during pregnancy, but it is important to avoid most herbs because their effects are unknown. - Does Essentials for Life interfere with any medications? The unique combination of enzymes and the CAeDS® system in Infinity2 Essentials for Life can enhance the absorption and/or metabolism of medications, which may alter the effects of the drug. It is recommended that individuals avoid taking medications at the same time of day as Infinity2 Essentials for Life. Medication should be taken 30 minutes prior to taking Essentials for Life or 1 1/2 to 2 hours after Infinity2 Essentials for Life. The same recommendations apply to Infinity2's Digest-a-Meal. Individuals with specific health concerns should check with their physician prior to beginning any supplementation program.
- Are there any health conditions which prevent people from taking Essentials for Life? Essentials for Life provides baseline nutritional support and is safe to take in most medical conditions. However, individuals with active gastric or duodenal ulcers should not use Essentials for Life. Individuals with specific health concerns should check with their physician prior to beginning any supplementation program.
- Is it normal to experience diarrhea, bloating or heartburn when first starting Essentials for Life? This can be a normal reaction for some individuals. Diarrhea and other symptoms are caused when the body goes through the detoxification process. This is one of the ways the body cleanses and flushes itself. Check the product labels to make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients. You may want to take the products intermittently or lower the dosage until your body gets used to them. You may also consider taking just the Total Flora Support for a few weeks to rebalance the intestinal bacteria. After the symptoms of detoxification subside within seven to ten days, you should begin to experience an improvement in your overall health and well-being.
- What is the shelf-life for Infinity2 products? The shelf-life for Infinity2 products is two years, with the exception of products containing probiotics (Essentials for Life, Total Flora Support, Immune Plus, Definition), which have a shelf-life of one year.
- Where is the best place to store the supplements? Do the products need to be refrigerated? The best place is on a shelf where it remains dry and at room-temperature or cooler. None of the Infinity2 products require refrigeration. However, for optimum stability and shelf life, it is recommended that products containing probiotics (Essentials for Life, Total Flora Support, Immune Plus, Definition) be refrigerated.
- Does the summer heat or shipping affect the enzymes in the products? No. The protective plastic bottle and the cartons act as insulation. The outside temperature would have to be much higher than 118 degrees to deactivate the enzymes. We have shipped our enzymes in mid-summer Arizona heat to different places in the United States and Canada and tests have shown that the contents are unaffected. Additionally, UPS has conducted tests that confirm that the temperatures in their delivery trucks do not rise to a point that would deactivate the enzymes or destroy their effectiveness.
